Parasite : An Overrated Masterpiece ?

A South Korean movie that released in 2019 and is still winning hearts across the globe- Well that movie ought to be Parasite. Parasite has made records all around the world. A movie like this is made to enjoy cinematic storytelling in a way that even language doesn't become a barrier. So if you still haven't watched this movie then do yourself a favour and go watch it along with subtitles of course.

A  dark comedy that shows the reality of human beings based on their class and greed was well appreciated by the audience. But the real question is : Does it deserve it ?
By all means yes and I am happy to give you guys the reason to watch it and experience some dope level storytelling.

First of all lets begin by giving the director Bong Joon-Ho the credit for directing a movie that the audience could watch irrespective of their language. The background of the movie is  not too light or too dark but has that aesthetic feel to it which intrigues us about the characters and their situations. A foreign film that glues you to your seat is bound to have an amazing story behind it and all credit goes to Bong Joon-Ho who has not only directed but has also co-written this movie along with Han Jin-Won

Lets come to what this movie is all about
The difference between poor and rich, smart and dumb, cynical and gullible is put together to make a movie named Parasite. Well that does sound strange and complicated but trust me its not.
To what extent can a family lie to enter into a house so that they can get a stable income is the only question that Bong Joon-Ho seems to answer with ease.So from now onwards we will be talking about the Kim Family consisting of father Ki-taek, mother Chung-sook, daughter Ki-jung and son Ki-woo who are poor yet smart and talented in their respective ways. The Kim Family devise a plan to infiltrate the Park's home by posing as people whom they require for a certain job. Now the troubles  they face after they infiltrate the Park's home is what makes the second half of the movie so thrilling.

Bong Joon-Ho becomes successful in  creating this situation of suspense that arrives from nowhere and hits the audience pretty hard leaving them wanting for more. This movie builds up like a comedy but ends up scarring you in a good way. The Director has beautifully shown how the lives of Kim family end up having a negative effect on the Park family. It shows the repercussions of lying in a way that makes us feel sad for the Kim family even though we know that they are wrong.

This movie may not be perfect but yes it does hit the right chords which is significantly more important in the art of film-making. As a connoisseur of movies, I must say that I've personally never viewed a movie like Parasite which has all the elements to make your movie-watching experience worthwhile.

Among its numerous accolades, Parasite won a leading four awards at the 92nd Academy Awards Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film. It became the first South Korean film to receive Academy Award recognition, as well as the first film not in English to win Best Picture. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language, and became the first film not in English to win the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Like always I'll be putting a snippet of the ratings below. Comment your thoughts on this movie and what it made you feel. Cheers.....
