So yesterday I watched The Fall Guy (2024) and decided to review it.
I've bifurcated the review into 5 points viz.

The Storyline
The story is pretty simple - How an infamous stunt guy returning from his sabbatical after an accident is wrongly accused of another stunt man's murder. I won't give you spoilers for this film so don't worry.
The action sequences in this film are crisp and I noticed that there aren't any unnecessary shaky cams used. Everything looks stable and all the frames are clear for you to understand what is happening.
Although, I must say Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt's chemistry was odd but since this isn't a rom-com, I'll let that slide. Also, they do talk about Love Actually (2003), Notting Hill (1999) and Pretty Woman (1990) and that does make up for the oddness.
The scene where Colt's drink has been spiked and he starts seeing a unicorn was such a hilarious scene and the action during that scene was picturized in the coolest way possible.
The best thing is when colt and Jody are talking about ideas regarding a split screen and suddenly we see them in a split screen scenario. Whoever thought of this is a genius.
Colt tries to get coffee 5 times and fails miserably and after watching this film I had only 1 thing :
Somebody give this man a cup of coffee. He needs caffeine.
The only thing I'm unable to understand is how this movie got such an early digital release. The Fall guy had a theatrical release on May 3, 2024 and the digital release on 21st May 2024 which is less than 3 weeks. Made on a Budget $125–150 million, The Fall Guy has grossed $127.4 million only.
Also, WTF is Jason Momoa doing in this film.
The Music
The movie starts with I Was Made for Lovin' You by KISS and that's when I knew this film will be iconic.
It's a tough song and I'm happy that The Fall Guy has done justice to it especially when it is played again in the end. Full goosebumps moment
There is also a reprised version by Yungblud for those who are not into hard rock.
The famous Thunderstruck by AC/DC which we all have heard in Iron Man is also played in the initial minutes of the film.
For all the Swifities, All Too Well by Taylor Swift is played while Ryan gosling's character Colt reminisces the good old days and starts crying.
I remember there was some reprised cover version of Stayin Alive in Bullet Train (2022) as well and this proves that the director has good taste in music.
Well then lets talk about the director as well.
The Director
The director David Leitch is not only a filmmaker but a stunt performer & stunt coordinator as well.
Leitch has been a stunt double for Brad Pitt five times and two times for Jean-Claude Van Damme
Maybe that's why this movie is an ode to stunt men and stunt coordinators.
He co-directed the first John Wick (2014) along with Chad Stahelski but was credited as a producer.
He later on directed films like Atomic Blonde (2017), Deadpool 2 (2018), Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and Bullet Train (2022) which are are great; no doubt.
But If you guys haven't watched Bullet Train (2022), then I strongly recommend you guys to watch it.
Consider it as a recommendation from my end. You won't be disappointed.
VERDICTI'll happily give The Fall Guy - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5 stars.
This film was a crazy ride and I genuinely had fun while watching this film. There wasn't even 1 single dull or boring moment.
Also, the fact that David Leitch gives Aaron Taylor-Johnson such cool roles whether it was in Bullet Train or The Fall Guy.
I still cannot believe how similar Ryan Gosling and Aaron Taylor-Johnson look.
Trivia
This movie is a lose adaptation of the 1981 show called The Fall Guy (1981 - 1986) which had 113 episodes spanning 5 seasons. Lee Majors and Heather Thomas, the actors who played Colt and Jody in the series appear as police officers during the mid-credit scene in the film.
With 8.5 car rolls, this movie breaks the Guinness World Record of the most car rolls which is mentioned in the film as well.
This movie had been in development since 2010. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson were all eyed to play Colt Seavers over the years.
Just before the climactic 250 foot jump, the speedometer on the car is at "88" which is the speed at which DeLorean activates its time travel device in Back to the Future (1985). This was a cool reference as the entire Back to the Future trilogy is pretty iconic and close to my heart.
Metalstorm, the film that Jody is directing is in fact a a real film from 1983, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn and to be honest it looked like a crossover between Dune, Mad Max and Rebel Moon.
Also this is me whenever I see my best friends after a long time....
