BABY DRIVER: A NEW AGE CLASSIC

What comes to your mind when you hear “Baby Driver”? Something to do with babies who know how to drive or sort of an animated flick. Although, Baby Driver is just the opposite of it.

The movie revolves around one young guy named “BABY” played by Ansel Elgort. He basically is involved in a drive-away business run by Doc played by Kevin Spacey. Doc hires crew members who are good at stealing and theft related stuff. This movie opens up with a heist sequence which is pulled off beautifully by baby. He had suffered a major accident in his childhood and lost his parents. This accident left him with tinnitus, a hearing sensation of a humming tone without any external sound present.

Once he had stolen Doc’s car which had a lot of money stuffed in it. Doc unfortunately caught hold of him and as Doc was heavily impressed by baby’s calibre he decided to hire him. After a few trips baby is on the verge of settling his debt with Doc and asks him to let him go. In-between all this baby falls in love with Deborah, a waitress working at a diner. As Doc is very happy with baby’s performance he forces baby to join back. The rest of the story is how baby fights with the crew members and runs for his freedom.

This movie is epic from start to the end. The dialogues are extraordinarily suitable for the situation. Director Edgar Wright added a fantastic edition of songs which changed the entire scenario of this movie. As BABY is suffering from Tinnitus so to drown the humming sound he always travels with an iPod which contains the greatest playlist ever heard to mankind.  One of the crew members is played by Jamie Foxx and he does a bit for his short role. The main antagonist of this movie is Buddy played by Jon Hamm. He and his girlfriend are betrayed by baby halfway and Buddy returns for his vengeance.

The direction by Edgar Wright is commendable. He has amazingly created a masterpiece which will surely turn a classic in future. The thought of adding feet tapping music is just impeccable. A lot of people have tried doing this but Edgar has pulled it with all his efforts.

This movie is all in all amazing and is a must watch. It has a 7.9 IMDb rating and 93% on rotten tomatoes. The journey of Baby, the getaway driver is an experience you shall never forget.
