October

A good story, a talented cast and a genius director can always create magic on screen. Well that's exactly what happened in the case of October. Shoojit Sircar  is an amazing director with a great vision . His movies are sweet, subtle and sober and his previous movies are still  loved by many people because of the beautiful essence he adds to storytelling. So this movie was already in good hands and we all knew that.

Varun Dhawan - the Golden Dharma child, who always ends up doing Rom-com flicks did a very good job as the lead of October. Almost the entire movie is on his shoulders which he is quite capable of handling by now. After seeing  him in Badlapur, I was certainly sure that he can act in a genre completely based on  anger, vengeance and emotional sentiments. But October is something very different. A movie which actually changes your mindset about how life is altogether and how it can be endured with love, peace and patience.

Basically this movie is about just 2 people who are not that connected to each other are bound together because of some unforeseen situation. Dan played by Varun Dhawan is an irritated, annoyed and careless trainee in a hotel where he is super agitated because of the low level work he has been getting. One day a trainee named Shiuli falls from the top of the hotel almost 30-ft above during New Years eve. Before falling, all the trainees including Shiuli were discussing the whereabouts of Dan as he was missing from the party. At that particular moment Shiuli asks "where is Dan?" and she falls.

Dan becomes devastated thinking that she might have asked about him as she was concerned and was also interested in him. He gets so heartbroken an tries everything in his power to help her get back to normal. He literally starts staying at the hospital  giving positive support to Shiuli and her family. The attempts he makes to get her conscious mind to be active again is so heartwarming. His entire life gets wretched as he uses all his time to go to the hospital to be with Shiuli as much as possible.

Its so easy to be irritated and angry all the time but it is difficult to stay positive, to help others without expecting anything in return. By the end we all fall in love with how Dan has changed and how the circumstances make him a more understanding guy. He starts accepting fate rather than being all sad and annoyed with it.

Well this story is something that Bollywood has been missing since a very long time. I mean I haven't watched or witnessed such smooth writing in a very long time. Although the movie is quite slow but once you are into it you really don't feel the pace. So has Shoojit Sircar created another masterpiece this time? A big yes to that

Bollywood does not appreciate such things as the audience wants more masala and flavour added to the story which makes movies even more cliché. So for the failure of such movies, we, as audience are responsible. However I felt like its a must watch for everyone out there as it may turn out to be a way to discover yourself.
