Is Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man the best?
To be honest, I'm a 90's kid and spider-man was the only character from marvel I knew about back then before reading the comics. That decade was a period when Marvel was still figuring out stuff and DC was going great with various adaptations of Batman, Superman, etc. This entire game was changed when Spider-Man (2002) was released.
A radioactive spider bites you and you magically transform into a vigilante overnight and fight crime-A simplified version of who spider-man is. Tobey Maguire was the first actor whom I witnessed wearing that mask. With a trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, this is hands down the best adaptation according to me and I'll surely tell you why. Tobey Maguire actually felt like someone who could do justice and fight crime. He also felt like someone who could be Peter Parker in real life. The famous dialogue "With great power, comes great responsibility" is from this flick itself. The supporting cast is great be it James Franco as Harry Osborn who becomes Green Goblin, Kirsten Dunst who portrays Mary Jane Watson, etc. Apart from these recurring characters we had amazing villains like Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman and Venom.More importantly this series gave us the comic book accurate version of spider-man's black suit caused due to the symbiote. Also I had a celebrity crush on Kirsten Dunst which made me love this trilogy even more.
In the year 2012 Andrew Garfield took over the role of Peter Parker and we got to see some logical advancements and some backstories regarding the character's family. Andrew Garfield's adaptation was dark and was precisely how I expected it to be. Here we witnessed some amazing direction by Marc Webb. Although we know about the other love interest of Peter Parker i.e Gwen Stacy from the comics as well as Spider-man 3 here we get to know more about her background as there is no Mary Jane Watson.
In 2012's The Amazing Spider-man we saw about Dr.Curt Connors who becomes lizard and how that character is actually linked to Peter Parker's father. In 2014 we had Electro, Green Goblin and Rhino as the villains. Although Rhino was only for like 5 mins or less, which was a very bad choice and might have affected the decision of not making another spider-man flick.
Finally coming to Tom Hollands' portrayal of spidey. Well I feel its right to bring a young actor on board to play a teenage version of spider-man so that he fits perfectly into the MCU timeline but apart from Avengers: Infinity War and his small cameo in Captain America:Civil War, his standalone movie i.e Spider-man: Homecoming was dull. I know a lot of people loved it but I've my reasons to not like it. Let me be clear, I don't dislike Hollands version but in comparison to Maguire and Garfield ,Tom's performance goes a little overrated. There is no doubt that he has done a great job but the script is at a fault here. The best thing about this version is Aunt May played by Marisa Tomei and the dominance of RDJ as Peter's role model, saviour, guardian, etc.
So if there is a standalone movie then we need some capable shoulders to run the movie. Michael Keaton used the Chitauri tech to become the vulture. The leading love interests can be easily forgotten which makes it even more worse. One more point is the suit creation, RDJ is using his tech skills and making various suits whereas in the older versions this was not the case. All the individual characters have made n number of changes to their costume on their own be it Maguire or Garfield.
Suit-wise Tom has a better suit because of RDJ but Andrew's suit was great. It had perfect amount of blue in it and the logo was how it should have been in the first place.

To end with this, I conclude that if there is some movie wherein almost the entire MCU is there , only then can such kind of spider-man be used otherwise for a standalone movie we require someone like Tobey or Andrew.
Lets hope that the sequel to Spider-man Homecoming can change my mind with Mysterio being the main villain.
