Marvel vs DC:The Real Feud
Before starting this I would like to state that I like both Marvel and DC equally without any partial consideration towards either. However there are some facts that I would like to share so that we can understand the current situation in a better way.
Lets begin with the MCU first. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) planned about rebooting Marvel and started its slate with a movie called "Iron Man" in 2008. No one in their wildest dreams thought that Iron man would actually be a game changer for the fate of Marvel. Now, from the 2000's we have witnessed the X-men series, Spider-man trilogy, Fantastic Four, etc being made by various production houses with Marvel's name in it. Well these movies were more or less not that bad on their own but were not sufficient enough to spawn a complete series with all the superheroes in it. The thought process of using a not so famous but quite a crucial character to fire up the phase 1 which would ultimately lead to the 1st Avenger movie in 2012 was a gamble which the creators of MCU were willing to take. Supposedly with visionary directors and a lot of movies (22 released so far), MCU garnered a lot of fans across the universe for all the right reasons.
While MCU was in the initial stage, DC was doing quite well with its Nolan-Bale Batman trilogy. Although its Superman movies sucked badly. There have been many movies in the MCU that have their flaws but with the craze around, people decide to forgive and forget these matters. The reason for this is that the creators envisioned a particular strategy of giving every character a backstory and maybe an individual movie for them as well. To be honest this is where DC lost its charm in the Cinematic business. They had no plans and the production house were not interested in the visions of a pretty good director. Y'all know I'm talking about Zack Snyder. Now I know very less about the real feud between Zack and WB but whatever I know is sufficient enough to judge the things that revolved around the release of Justice League. I get it Batman v Superman (BvS) was a bit dark but it had to be dark and gritty. Being a Batman fanatic, I really liked Ben Affleck's portrayal of the caped crusader better than that of Christian Bale. Well both of them were good but Ben's portrayal was quite believable. He looked like he could have taken on Henry Cavil - The Superman easily. The fate changed after Zack was removed from his dream project and Joss Whedon, the man who directed the Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) was brought in for directing JL. With all the re-shoots and all the mess with the scripts, Justice Leagues (2017) turned out to be the biggest disaster not only financially but also in terms of character development and story telling. This is where the actual feud and hatred began.
Leaving all that aside WB understood some of its mistake and tried to make its peace by making standalone movies which went on to be a massive success. Movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam were planned and that's what made the real difference. I'm barring Suicide Squad which was utter crap. With Wonder Woman 84 and Joker, we might have some interesting things in the store from DC.
Unlike the movies, the television streams were in the favor of DC initially. Now both Marvel and DC have improved their television content and seem to deliver some hits and some drops which according to me is not a problem.
