Zack Snyder's Justice League

Well, we've finally got the Snyder cut and it is nothing short of a masterpiece. We deserved this movie in 2017 and what we got was utter trash. #ReleaseTheSnydeCut is hands down the biggest fan-based moment and I'm glad that I was also a part of this moment. Secretly, we all wanted to forget the theatrical cut of Justice League that was released in 2017.

Apparently, Zack's vision was butchered by the production house and they creatively decided to call Joss Whedon for repairing the film. Although, Joss Whedon has given us both Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, which have been successful in taking the MCU to where it is right now, he just couldn't manage to create that magic with JL. With the unnecessary cuts and reshoots, the film and its beloved fans suffered the most. But Zack still continued to work on his project and in early 2020, he assured all the fans that the so called "Snyder Cut" exists and it is almost completed.

The fan moment had gained enough momentum after the abovementioned news started to resurface and the entire DC fandom came back to its existence. Now, the infamous production company had no other option but to give Snyder a shot and see where it goes. The project was green lit once again and Snyder was given close to $70 million to complete visual effects, score and editing of the new material filmed in October 2020.

With the start of a new streaming service named HBO Max, the production company and Snyder collectively decided to stream it online as either a 4-part miniseries or a 4hr long movie. Finally, on 18th March 2021, the Snyder cut was released with a 4hr long duration and fans just went gaga over it including me.

The storyline is something which we've already seen in 2017 but this one seems complete. There are no silly cuts and unnecessary transitions. Each character has more depth and their purpose to fight is clearly shown. Character development is a key aspect for which MCU took almost 20 movies but Snyder could do it in less than 4hrs. The tone of the movie was back to how DC was supposed to be which is dark. There are no slapstick comedy scenes that Joss had shot. Each and every villain is portrayed in a humongous-scary way and for that the VFX team needs to take a bow.

For the very first time, Snyder brings Darkseid along with DeSaad and Granny Goodness on the screen and its mayhem. From Uxas being Darkseid, the journey has been shown with a little bit of backstory when the age of heroes existed.

The Superman resurrection scene is better and more gripping. Kudos to Zack for keeping the iconic black suit for Supes. The Pet Semetery reference is gone for good. Wonder Woman's entry scene is extended and has a new background score which I'll mention later in this post.

Cyborg has been given more screen time than the previous version which helps us to understand his grief and pain. Similarly, Barry Allen also has a little bit more screen time wherein we get to see the cute Iris west.

Coming to Batman, you all know how much I adore this character. I don't hate Joss Whedon for what he did to this movie but I surely hate him for what he did to Batman. He showed batman to be weak, puny and scared which is clearly not true. Thank god, Zack gave justice to poor Batman by giving him proper dialogues, better action sequences and the original personality that Bruce Wayne has. I would like to mention the famous dialogue that Bruce gives in the trailer as well.

"I don't care how many demons he has fought in how many hells. He has not fought us....Not us United"

Apart from all this shenanigans we also get a glimpse of the knigthmare scene that happened in BvS wherein we see  a post-apocalyptic world where batman has joined hands with Cybrog, Flash, Mera, Deathstroke and joker as Superman has turned evil. Also, Snyder smartly introduced Martian Manhunter.

Coming to the background score, Junkie XL had already composed the score for this film before being replaced by Danny Elfman when Whedon was directing the film. Junkie was rehired to score the film in early 2020 and he decided to restart and make a brand new score for the film. This new score consists of 54 tracks and is 3hr 54mins long.

Finally.......Drum rolls please

The verdict is something that we all have already known for years now but I'll say it again.

"ZACK SNYDER's JUSTICE LEAGUE (2021) is way better than JOSStice LEAGUE (2017)"

Do check it out and if possible don't pirate it. Watch it legally so that Snyder can get a chance to make Justice League 2 and 3 as he planned. With all that said and done, we need a new hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse

P.S.: Joker doesn't say "We live in a society where honor is a distant memory". So, I guess that dialogue was for someone else. Can you guys guess who it was for
