Dhamaka - Kartik Aryan's acting prowess

The first teaser of Dhamaka was released in the moth of March and since then I've been waiting to watch it. Especially since it was Kartik's first transition to the thriller genre. Honestly, I was not surprised that he was able to pull this off as I had faith in the actor and also the character he was playing.

Kartik Aryan started of his journey doing the normal, cheesy rom-coms and he was amazing in those roles but there are opportunities or should I say risks that an actor needs to take in order to blossom. What's worse for an actor apart from bad reviews ? Being typecasted into one genre and doing the same kind of roles again and again. Even the audience wanted him to do something more and Dhamaka was the right choice for him to showcase his acting prowess.

Dhamaka is a remake of the 2013 Korean film "The Terror Live". Now, I'm not a connoisseur of Korean movies but looking at the past Korean films that Bollywood has remade, we all know that they've great stories. Irrespective of how it turns out in Bollywood we cannot deny the fact that Korean writers have something special that Bollywood is lacking and is sincerely and strangely capable of remaking. Lets take the example of movies like Ek Villain, Murder 2, Zinda, Rocky Handsome, Awarapan, etc. have had one thing in common and that's their unique storyline. These kind of stories have the ability to keep you hooked and stay with you even after the film is over. Well, I guess that's what cinema is all about right ?

Coming back to the movie, Dhamaka was completed in merely 10 days and it took them endless amounts of time just for post-production and VFX. So, Pulling of something like this in such a small schedule is really commendable. Also, with only 2 songs in the entire film, there is no chance or scope for you to get bored or distracted. I think Bollywood should adapt no song policies for thrillers at least. Background music is something that a lot of Hollywood directors rely in order to get the audience on the edge of their seats.

Kartik Aryan has proved that he can actually deliver better dialogues rather than his PKP monologues which were the highlights of his career. Nevertheless, the character of Arjun Pathak  is really interesting. Honestly, I felt like doing a career switch to pursue news anchoring but looking at the news that gets delivered everyday, I've dropped that idea.

The movie has a great flow to it and by the end it really makes you question how far can you go in order to achieve something. Kudos to the director, Ram Madhvani who ended the movie on a very unusual yet a very satisfying note. With "Khoya Paaya" playing in the end, you're struck with thoughts about reality of the world we are living and how people actually go to such extremes in order to achieve their dreams and goals.

Arjun's boss played by Amruta Subhash is a prime example of how bosses are and how we need to be  vigilant while taking decisions. Even though your actions are for the betterment of the world but if they are not in sync with the company's policy, it is most likely that your boss will start annoying you and illtreat you.

Mrunal Thakur gets the credit of special appearance but also packs a powerful punch in her pivotal role as Arjun's soon to be ex-wife and an on-site journalist/ reporter.

Soham Majumdar plays a very important role and his dialogue delivery is just amazing although he is on call for almost the entire duration of the film.

All-in-all, this is a captivating and a thought provoking movie which should be watched by an audience who can understand and also appreciate the efforts of such a unique way of storytelling.

I guess that's it from my side.....
