My views

Before I begin, let me come clear about the fact that I'm a big fan of the caped crusader. When I was young, Batman as a character never impressed me. The sudden liking happened after I watched The Dark Knight. Like I have mentioned earlier DC and Marvel both have been an integral part of  my life. Its not just the superheroes but their character arcs that make me curious as to whether the world really needs a superhero. Batman or should I say Bruce Wayne is a superhuman. He does not possess any supernatural powers that he got from radioactive elements, super serums, etc. Whatever he has created as a legacy in the form of Batman is purely on the basis of  his skills. Bruce Wayne as an individual is far more superior to anyone without their powers. He has a lot of qualities that many superheroes lack even though they might be 10 times more powerful than Batman. I mean with the right amount of Kryptonite, batman was capable of bringing superman on his knees. We have seen a...

A book published in 1925 and a movie made in 2013 became relevant to me in an inexplicable way. Was it the era, the writing, the story?...Well I just can't seem to get an answer to that question. It's all mysterious and uncertain, the way we find something in times where everything around us is at a standstill. Looking around for a means to pass my time I gladly stumbled upon The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald and ended up watching the movie as well. Although the book was lying on my shelf since a year and my efforts to begin the novel always went in vain. The reason for this will surely be accounted to the toughness of this book. It's a book that needs certain amount of attention yet it does no seek for it. Perhaps its Jay Gatsby's personality and his unquenchable thirst for love that attracts us.  The 2013 movie with the same name was just the perfect way to experience the content I had absorbed from the book and the way in which I had imagined th...

Well honestly I'm not a fan of war based drams but I never thought a continuous shot film based on the WWI would be so intriguing and captivating. The reason why I stumbled on 1917 was due to the number of positive reviews from critics as well as the audience. Director Sam Mendes who is also the writer and producer tried telling the story that is partly based on an account told to him by his paternal grandfather Alfred H. Mendes. Making a war film based on a real life incident is difficult as it involves a lot of important aspects pertaining to the history that we have studied. Keeping all those aspects in mind, Sam Mendes gives an epic movie filled with all the gritty and horrific experiences that 2 corporals had to undergo during the World War I.  Plot  Lance Corporal William "Will" Schofield (George Mackay) and Thomas "Tom" Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are ordered by General Ernimore (Colin Firth) to carry a message to Colonel Mackenzie (Bene...

Even though Meri Pyaari Bindu was not widely accepted by the audience and as usual critics had  their own shot at this movie, I decided to give it a try myself. Last night I finally saw Meri Pyaari Bindu which was released in 2017.I know this may sound a bit weird but I'm always in search of a good romantic film and this movie was a breath of fresh air. I genuinely liked how it broke and questioned certain stereotypical ideas of friendship that has been fed to us by all the Bollywood romantic movies for ages. I mean we all want a happy ending right- Boy meets girl, they fall in love, fight some odds and voila  they live happily ever after. Meri Pyaari Bindu is exactly opposite of that. It questions what reality is and whether "Happily ever after" even exists in the real world. Its just surreal that someone you love with all your heart may never reciprocate that love to you and that's acceptable by all means. Well without any doubt it is heartbreaking but sometim...

Seldom do you come across movies that keep you on the edge of the seat and its been years since big budgeted Bollywood movies tried doing it. I had to find a solution for this and unknowingly I stumbled upon this 2018 gem named Ratsasan. Even though the movie is in Tamil, it still managed to keep me hooked. I had watched it a long time back but recently my friend suggested me to review it. So today I'll be reviewing Ratsasan and will probably give you reasons to watch this masterpiece. Plot:  After constant rejections in his attempt to become a filmmaker and pressure from his family, Arun Kumar (Vishnu Vishal) ends up becoming a police officer. The story revolves around a psycho killer who is murdering school girls and how with every step Arun comes closer to catching the culprit.  Well the plot looks old and overused and some may even say its cliched but trust me its not. When it comes to storytelling, this movie keeps you glued even though you might suspect o...

After a lot of procrastination, I finally decided to watch Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and I must say that its 209 minutes of pure art. Its adapted from the book named "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt where painting houses is used as euphemism for murder or contract killing. Charles Brandt is a former homicide prosecutor, investigator and defence attorney who wrote the above mentioned non-fiction narrative and published it in the year 2004. But what is the story about? The story revolves around 1 man - Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro) and his alliance with mafia, teamsters and Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino). It begins when Frank is sitting in a nursing home recounting his old days as a hitman for the crime syndicate. It simply shows the journey of Frank from a truck driver to the high-ranking official in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the president of local 326. Frank was closely related to the Bufalino family. He supposedly did criminal...

A South Korean movie that released in 2019 and is still winning hearts across the globe- Well that movie ought to be Parasite. Parasite has made records all around the world. A movie like this is made to enjoy cinematic storytelling in a way that even language doesn't become a barrier. So if you still haven't watched this movie then do yourself a favour and go watch it along with subtitles of course. A  dark comedy that shows the reality of human beings based on their class and greed was well appreciated by the audience. But the real question is : Does it deserve it ? By all means yes and I am happy to give you guys the reason to watch it and experience some dope level storytelling. First of all lets begin by giving the director Bong Joon-Ho the credit for directing a movie that the audience could watch irrespective of their language. The background of the movie is  not too light or too dark but has that aesthetic feel to it which intrigues us about the characters and...
